Technical Difficulties

This week went by very quickly. I had to recreate the website that I showed previously. Apparently, I created it under a Maricopa domain when I should have created it under a Phoenix College domain. I’m not sure how this prevents students from viewing the site but it posed problems. I tried changing the url to a Phoenix College domain. However, as it turns out, you can only change the ending of the url once the site has been made using Google Sites. So I was in a terrible state thinking that I would have to recreate the side from scratch all over again. Fortunately, Google Sites has a nifty feature that allows you to copy a site that you have previously made. So, I just copied the site onto a Phoenix College domain and all was well again.

Wednesday of this week was PC’s Student Involvement fair. I “volunteered” to represent the robotics club. I had to make a poster with our logo on it which, as usual, proved difficult. However, in the end I had a nice printout of the Kodiak Robotics Logo. The only down side was that the printer made lines in the ink. I shaped it and made it all pretty. Thus, at the fair, the robotics club had the prettiest and most amazing poster out of all the clubs. I, along with Yanny and Josh, set forth to recruit new members. We collected an entire sheet of “I’m interested” signatures. However, knowing how most students just sign those in the spur of the moment, I’m hoping that at least 4 new candidates will show up to the club meeting.

All silliness aside, this week I’m speaking with Dr. Anne Hodgkins to make a final decision on my research project/internship. I’m still not sure what to do. After google-ing research topics, however, I found something that interests me, maze algorithms. Whether or not I can do a project on this is still unknown to me. Hopefully, everything works out

And We're Back

This week was relatively slow. Because I am a math major and out of the life sciences area, I went to talk to Dr. Anne Hodgkins. We are trying to find a special project that I can do with the help of the math department. So, I have to come up with an idea that I would like to research or look into. I’m not entirely sure what you would research in mathematics so I’m having a hard time. She, however, said that I could do a project using surveys and statistics so I will probably go with this idea.

In addition to that I have also been working on the Robotics Club website. I had a little bit of trouble in the beginning because a page had already been created for the club from a preset page. It was horribly boring and the layout and colors could not be changed. Therefore, I made an entirely new page and instead of using a preset page, I used a basic theme and built it from the bottom up. I started off with basic information and our team logo. After that I got to play around with the page. Josh has given me pretty much total creative control so I’ve been having a lot of fun with it.
Home Page

I added a page for the VEX Robotics Competition  and a media page. Josh wanted a robot battle game on the website so I was sent to search. However, after a half hour of looking for a decent game, I concluded that my quest was for naught. So, Josh decided to load up a link to an Atari game collection. I embedded the whole page into our club page so we can play all we want without having to be redirected. I hope to obtain recent pictures of the club so we can upload those as well. All in all, the site is progressing smoothly.
